(1970) Contemporary philosophical alternatives and the crisis of truth, Dordrecht, Springer.
The dialectical alternative for dealing with the crisis of truth is historical by nature. In contradistinction to the functionalistic and existential alternatives, it is genetic and regards the historical process as the unfolding of an inherent historical logos or dialectical principle, the comprehension of which, on the part of man, leads to man's eventual liberation. In returning to its pure state, the logos gradually emancipates itself from its otherness, its externalization or its self-estrangement. The process of self-emancipation on the part of the logos simultaneously represents man's emancipation from his self-estrangement, since, by conceiving the logos as a rational principle, man blends with it and, so to speak, participates in this historical process.
